Does any body else like John Denver?
I like to sit down with headphones and listen to John Denver when its a rainy day. Out of all the concerts I have been to in my life, AC/DC, Olivia Newton John, Niel Diamond, Def Lepard, etc. I enjoyed his the most.

- No, I think your the only person alive that likes John Denver.
- I used to like his music, but it doesn't mean the same thing to me anymore.
- John Denver was big in his day. A lot of people don't like him , but they can sing the lyrics of all his songs. I like Country Roads to this day.
- I like his music and I still play the old albums I have.
- One of the world's best-known and best-loved performers, John Denver earned international acclaim as a songwriter, performer, actor, environmentalist and humanitarian. John’s music has spanned three decades, outlasted countless musical trends, and garnered numerous music awards and honors, including a 1996 Induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and in 1993, the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Music award. The son of a U.S Air Force officer, John’s artistic journey began after the family moved to Tucson, where at age eleven, he was given his grandmother’s guitar. John eventually took up guitar lessons and joined a boy’s choir, which led him at age 20 to take matters into his own hands and pursue his dream of a career in music. In 1963 he struck out on his own, moving to Los Angeles to be in the heart of the burgeoning music scene. It was during this time that Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was urged by friends to change his name if a recording career was to be in his future. His friends suggested the name John Sommerville, but he ultimately took his stage name from the beautiful Rocky
- I like him too, his music had a simple soothing quality to it. I especially liked Rocky Mountain High. Made me feel like I was there with him. Too bad he died so young and and in such a tragic way. Enjoy him. I also like Neil Diamond but in a different way-he is more lively.
- yes I got to meet him in person in 1980 when he came to Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City and got to shake his hand and he gave all the people wirh rank under a sergeant free tickets to that nights show. however my ride was a roommate who was a sergeant and he obliged . Very nice man and the show was great.
- I do , his music is great !
- Yes hes a good singer haven't heard him in years.
- Can you have been a girl with a guitar at CAMP in the 70s & 80s and NOT like John Denver? I *do* consider it a small embarrassment that I like him, but dammit, I do! And Peter, Paul & Mary, too. It was compulsory campfire music. ;-)
- I like John Denver. I was a kid when most of his hits were on the radio, so his music makes me think of childhood. I loved Country Road and Sunshine (on my Shoulder), and Rocky Mountain High. I remember being real sad when he died. That was a shame.
- Have you seen his movie?- -pretty funny!! George Burns plays God. John Denver was a great songwriter but not a very good pilot:(
- John Denver was and still is one of my favorites. I even named my cat (Denver) after him! I was so sad when I found out he had died in his plane crash but I know he was doing something that he loved at the time. I never got to see him perform but I have dozens of his cassette tapes and a few LPs. His music always made me picture in my mind of nature, mountians, wildlife, etc. All the things I love. He was a great conservationist too. Always doing something for the environment. Wish he was still around but at least we'll always have his music.
- I loved John Denver and saw him in concert. I think Calypso is one of my favorite songs. His music could always put me in a good mood.
- I too liked the late John Denver although I consider him as a folk singer. He was an amazing writer with most of his songs referring to nature. So sad we lost him in an experimental airplane crash.
- yep I have a lot of his music on my Ipod.
- Yeah, he's great. Listening to his music always gets me in a calm mood=]
- John Denver was quite the country / folk singer in the 1970s. Rocky Mountain High could be a tribute to the MLB Colorado Rockies who are on a big high. Love the song Country Roads. thanks for the memories
- You bet, Thank God I'm a Country Boy. Country Road Take Me Home.
- The man had a GREAT tenor voice and played a decent guitar. I still do a few of his songs in my act. My favorite is "Ya Done Stomped on My Heart"... from his "Rhymes and Reasons" album.
- No!! But thanks for asking....
- John Denver, was great I do relate to a lot of his music Good to be back home again,Some days a diamond some days a stone,my opinion, more than anything I consider he was a folk singer,More so than country.
- I love John Denver, although like previous posters have said, I consider him folk rather than country. It reminds me of my summers growing up. I used to drive everyone nuts at work when I would bring his greatest hits album in :-)
- i like him he's a greatest singer and pilot ever.
- yes! I have most of his songs. They really cheer me up when I'm depressed. He was so mellow. I miss him...
- He was alright.. His life was a cryin' shame.... Everything I've read said he was a drunk...
- He was more of a folk singer that he was a country singer !
