mr rogers a green beret? John denver?

I never knew if this was true or not, but I once heard that Mr. Rogers from mr. rogers neighborhood was a former green beret and that john denver was a vietnam era sniper. Anyone got any clues. I dont know and dont believe it but id like to hear yall's theory on this! EDIT: To charles, yea man, i heard that too about the long sleeves. I never heard of don knotts being a DI though, That would be hard to believe though, lol later gater...umm, Im in the Army, thats not what I asked anyway. Besides then and now are real different. This new Army isnt what it used to be.

2. I really had never heard of this but checking their biographies there is no mention of it and the Urban Legend site confirms it is myth that Fred Rogers was a member of any branch of the military let alone a sniper or Beret.
3. Fred Rogers was born in 1928 too young for WWII, and during the 1960's he was on TV already doing some shows, so he definitely didn't serve in Viet Nam. Unless all the biographical information that exists about him is wrong, Fred McFeely Rogers never served in the military in any capacity, let alone as a Marine sniper (or Navy Seal, as another version of this apocryphal story claims). So I highly doubt he was a green beret. John Denver’s father, Henry John Deutschendorf, was one of the first officers in the newly-formed USAF after WWI, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. His son John Denver at one time hopes of joining the air force himself, but his substandard eyesight precluded his becoming a military Pilot. He received an army induction notice in 1964, but he was classified 1-Y due to having lost two toes in a lawn mower accident and never served in any branch of the military.
4. Fred Rodgers was never in the military, and neither was John Denver.
