Would John Denver's song work for a continuation?
In spring I am ending 8th grade and starting high school. I am in my school's Advanced choir has a tradition of singing a farewell song. I was thinking of doing John Denver's "Friends With You" The only problem is nobody in my class knows who John Denver is. Is this a suitable song for an 8th grade class?

- John Denver is a beloved singer-songwriter, who's work will long be remembered even though he is gone. It's true many people under the age of 30 may not know who he was, but that doesn't mean they couldn't appreciate his songs if they heard them. If you like the song and feel like it works with your style and range then go for it! Just because nobody in your class knows the song doesn't mean they won't potentially like it.
- Oh, I love the melody of that song! And I definitely think that the lyrics would be suitable for eighth graders. But hopefully you can find a copy of it that's actually written for a SATB choir (or whatever you have)--in the version John Denver sang, it was only his voice (i.e. no harmony).
